Miss Peregrine´s Home for Peculiar Children

Welcome back once again, dear Peculiar.
Today´s Monday, 21st May, 2018.
Unlike other days, I´ll be posting on Monday, and my apologizes for not posting earlier, as I´ve been busy with something called: Daily life

·Titles: Miss Peregrine´s Home for Peculiar Children, Hollow City, The Library of Souls

·Author: Ransom Riggs

·Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Peregrine%27s_Home_for_Peculiar_Children

·Languages: His books have been translated into 40 languages.

·Copies sold: More than 9 million copies have been sold.

·Personal opinion: I was surely the first in line when the movie came out. There´s barely any book adds in my country, so I totally ignored the existence of these books until I saw the movie, as it has happened with many other books from the blogs previously done. But it took me about two years to finally buy the books. I was SO interested I swear it took me barelly two weeks to finish the three of them. Now I´m waiting to buy Tales of the Peculiar (Which have been translated in a really weird way in my country, to be honest. I couldn´t stop myself from reading them, in which everything is rushing, risking and more action! I love the style in which they´re written and I would have loved to have more, more and more.
My favourite character so far, apart from Jacob, who´s the main character, is Millard. Not because of being invisible, not because of anything. I love his personality. I fell in love with him, proving you can fall in love with someone´s soul, no matter the appearance. I still wish I could have seen him, though. I bet he´s a very handsome 40´s kid.
AND A NEW TRILOGY IS SAID TO BE ABOUT TO AIR:
Info

·Recommendations: This book is what you could call family friendly. Both adults and kids will enjoy it. I´m still 16, but I swear I´ll read them to my kids when I grow up. People think everything has been invented already, but imagination in infinite and if you´re a teenager wanting to write a book, never give up!

·WARNING: Emma and Olive have somehow been switched in the movie, and I still don´t know why. Emma from now on is the Air girl (And Jacob´s love interest) and Emma is the ginger fire girl. Please don´t get mad at this, I know it´s weird, but believe me, the movie is still great.

The Shadow World

Welcome back once again, dear Mundanes, Shadowhunters, Vampires, Werewolves, Warlocks, Witches or Faeries.
Today´s Wednesday, 28th March, 2018.

·Titles:
*The Mortal Instruments:
- City of Bones
-City of Ashes
-CIty of Glass
-City of Fallen Angels
-City of Lost Souls
-City of Heavenly fire

*The Infernal Devices:
-Clockword Angel
-Clockword Prince
-Clockword Princess

*The Dark Artifices:
-Lady Midnight
-Lord of Shadows
-Queen of Air and Darkness

And much more!

·Author: Judith Lewis, better known as Cassandra Clare

·Wikipedia

·Languages: Her books have been translated into 35 languages.

·Copies sold: Her collections have more than 16 million sales. The Infernal Devices had 6 million sales and are currently in print. 750,000 are the prints of Clockwork Angel. 1 million are the prints of Clockwork Princess.

·Personal opinion: The first approach to The Mortal OInstruments was when the movie came to theaters. I saw the trailer and instantly loved the aesthetic and the plot: A girl who can´t stop drawing a specific symbol and one day her life turns 180 degrees to discover that not only Demons exist, but also Vampires, Witches, Werewolves, Faeries, etc. The movie seemed great at first, until I read the books. The truth is that the movie isn´t as bad as people say, but it could have been done better, that´s truth. The show is also good, but it´s a different approach to the whole plot, so it´s quite easy to guess not everyone likes it.
I started reading The Mortal Instruments in 6th Primary/6th Grade, and finished in 1st Seacondary/7th Grade. Which means it took me a year to read the six books. Then, I was gifted with Clockwork Angel, set in the 19th Century, which I didn´t want to read, but after a while trying, the magic came to me. I was suddenly diving into the pages and learning about the exciting adventures of Teressa, James and William, who made an instant love triangle. I thought I wouldn´t finish the collection, and I couldn´t stop seeing memes of the last books being sad. So I expected the worse, but it ended up being lovely. The Dark Artifices is the last collection I read, which I finished last month. These ones are set in 2017, so are more modern. I didn´t like them as much as the collections I previously mentioned, but I had lots of fun and loved the characters.
My favourite character... Well, I have several:
-Magnus Bane, Great Warlock of Brooklyn. Species: Warlock.(All collections) I instantly fell in love with his humor, original fashion and his lovely cat eyes. It was also obvious that he wasn´t completely straight, as the first thing he does is admit his preference are beautiful women or guys with black hair and blue eyes.
-James Carstairs. Species: Shadowhunter(All collections) This English-Chinese boy made my heart pound from start to finish. His charisma and patience were admirable, and he was just lovely in all he did.
-Kieran the Hunter. Species: Faerie, son of the Nonseelie King. (The Dark Artifices) This blue haired boy captivated me the very first second I read about him. What makes him so special is his heterochromia and color changing hair. It´s usually dark blue, but black whenever he´s angry or serious, and white when he feels scared or betrayed.
-Tiberius Neron Blackthorn. Species: Shadowhunter (The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices) Ty is not like every other Shadowhunter, he´s special. His way to see, hear and feel is different to the people around him. The reason is his autism. Shadowhunters have not connection to Mundane medicine (our medicine), so they know nothing about it, until Kit appears, who´s a Mundane capable of seeing the Shadow World for a special reason.

·Recommendations: If you are interested in a bit of romance and lots of action and adventures, these are your books. You obviously don´t need to read everything, but it´s kinda my goal for this year. Queen of Air and DArkness airs this December, and I can´t wait to read it. I am also planning to read the other collections, so I have plenty of books!

The Kane Chronicles

Welcome back once again, dear Magicians.
Today´s Tuesday, 27th March, 2018

·Titles: The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, The Serpent´s Shadow.

·Author: Richard Russel "Rick" Riordan

·Wikipedia

·Languages: His books have been translated into 42 languages.

·Copies sold: More than 30 million copies have been sold, just in the US.

·Personal opinion: As I´ve mentioned before, after reading the awesome adventures of Percy Jackson and his friends, I couln´t resist but to read more books from this author. Magnus Chase was not out yet in my country, and Ancient Egypt was also one of my favourite mythologies. I started reading it, but I must admit I didn´t quite like it. It´s something usual after having read so many books with different characters. I kinda missed Percy and his humorous comments, and I must admit the Kane siblings weren´t as funny as our dead Demigod. Another reason might have been my little obession for my favourite character, who I will reveal later. I´ll just say he´s a God. Well, what happened is that I was totally devastated when I discovered he was just a secondary character.
I mean, everyone in the fandom loves him more than any of the other characters, so why not give him more protagonism?
Anyway, after three failed attempts, I finally managed to finish the second book, as the first had been quicker to read. And I couldn´t stop there once I read the secvond one. I felt I needed to read the third one! The story suddenly came to life and I felt more attached to the characters. In the fandom, Jackson and Chase are more popular, so I was also influenced by that. I loved them in the end. Not as much as I wanted, but I had a great time reading.
My favourite so far was Anubis. His young looks gave him the Death Boy vibes Nico di Angelo has, so I fell in love instantly. But there are obviously differences with them, as Anubis has straight hair, he´s taller and his looks are more rocker ones. He´s lovely when he tilts his head like a jackal.

·Recommendations: As with the other books, I do recommend to read this books. It´s true that the other collections are more appealing, but the cultural appropriation is this one makes me love Rick Riordan for his awesome novels.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard

Welcome back once again, dear Demigods.
Today´s Wednesday, 21st March, 2018.

And it´s time for the second collection to be reviewed. And it´s once again Rick Riordan the winner of the review.

·Titles: The Sword of Summer, The Hammer of Thor, The Ship of Dead.

·Author: Richard Russel "Rick" Riordan

·Wikipedia
·Languages: His books have been translated into 42 languages.

·Copies sold: More than 30 million copies have been sold, just in the US.

·Personal opinion: The first time I heard of Magnus Chase was gathering through the last pages of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which show books by the same author. I wasn´t <able to read them then, though, as I was reading Percy Jackson. But I enjoyed that books so much that it was worth giving it as try. When I went to the States las year 2017, I was it on Walmart and immediately bought it. There were also some graphic novels of PJO, but I couldn´t find time to buy them. Next time will use. English is my second language, but I found no problem to read them. I had stopped reading The Kane Chronicles due to reasons I´ll explain next Tuesday, so I had pleanty of time for this one. I soon became surrounded by Magnus Chase  and his peculiar friends; an arab independent girl called Samirah Al-Abbas; a deaf blonde called Hearthstone; and a small Afro-American looking man called Blitzen. Any further details are spoiler, so I won´t mention them. My biggest mistake so far was leaving the books behind. I was heading to my final exams and couldn´t find time to read them. It was then when The Hammer of Thor was released. I quickly found myself diving into its pages to finish as soon as possible. What surprised me the most is how different Magnus was from Percy. After writing 10 books of him, Rick RIordan did a great job making them nothing alike.
My favourite characters so far are Hearthstone, with his super cute red and white cane-looking scarf; and Alex Fierro, a genderfluid crazy kid.

·Recommendations: My opinion is the same as in my last post. But please, don´t read them if you´re going to be hateful towards the LGBT+ characters. They deserve all our love and respect. Mythology isn´t the typical school romance a girl and a boy have, it´s much more. And you need to be open minded enough to see through PJO´s Mist and MC´s Glamour. All the diversity shown in this books encourages us to have a different view from those different from us; or to identify to those similar to us.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians & Heroes of Olympus

Welcome back once again, dear Demigods.
Today´s Tuesday, 20th March, 2018.

As you might haver read in the title, I´ll be reviewing Percy Jackson, the famous Bestseller in New York Times.

·Titles: The Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, Curse of the Titan, Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Hero of Olympus// The Lost Hero, Neptune´s Son, Athena´s Mark, House of Hades, The Blood of Olympus.

·Author: Richard Russel "Rick" Riordan

·Wikipedia

·Languages: His books have been translated into 42 languages.

·Copies sold: More than 30 million copies have been sold, just in the US.

·Personal opinion: Since I was a child, mythology has been one of my passions. I was first introduced to the "Riordanverse" (How fans call the universe this writer has created) was in 5th Primary/5th Grade. My History teacher showed us the movie, The Lightning Thief, and I instantly fell in love with it. The second one, The Sea of Monsters, was released that same year, and I couln´t resist to watch it. But it wasn´t until 2nd Secondary/8th Grade when I read the books.
The movies were fine, but were completely different from the books, which made me feel discouraged. I have to admit I read the whole collection in a month or so. And I soon found myself buying merchandise online and having Camp Half-Blood´s T-shirt.
I have also Cosplayed Percy Jackson once or twice, and I must admit it was fun, but I do need to update it a bit.
My favourite character so far was Nico di Angelo, which I´m not gonna mention in extent (Spoiler Alert). I´m looking forward to Cosplay him too.

·Recommendations: These books are written for teenagers. Ancient History is so rich and it´s so sads it´s getting lost, so it really fills me with joy to find a juvenile author has written about it. Percy´s adventures are quite fun, and I would recommend everyone to read it.
